There have been many times in my life that I have waned from being outside, and most of those times I genuinely felt, in my whole body, that something was missing. I know it’s not for everyone, and that is totally fine! but, to me it’s a piece of me that needs to be nurtured.
I am so grateful that our home is close to some pretty amazing single track trails, right in the heart of the city. This is my easiest fix. Whether it’s mountain biking, running or a walk, the sanctuary of Mother Nature is my peaceful place - my calm - myself.
There are days that I wish we could live deep in the forest. Live off the land. Be away from it all. And other days, I find extreme gratitude in being a part of a community.
Sure it might sound SUPER cheesy, but, the jewelry I make means something to me. It means that the forest, where the trees were harvested, gives me some sense of stillness when I hit those days of urban discomfort. I see a reflection of my earrings in the mirror and instead of staying inside, I’m nudged to get out.
